(WVUE) – Netflix is once again making headlines in response to Dave Chappelle’s “The Closer” show. According to The edge, Netflix fired an employee who was responsible for organizing the October 20 walkout. The dismissal was not due to the organized demonstration, but the employee allegedly disclosed confidential company data.

Netflix said the employee disclosed inside information that was used in a recent Bloomberg story. The information used discussed audience measurements and the remuneration of actors. This particular employee was the only one with access to this information and admitted to sharing it.

“We fired an employee for sharing confidential and commercially sensitive information outside of the company,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “We understand that this employee may have been motivated by disappointment and hurt by Netflix, but maintaining a culture of trust and transparency is at the heart of our business. “

The former employee wanted to remain anonymous for fear of online harassment. Reports describe the former employee as black, pregnant and a trans employee resource group leader.
