Ellie Goulding surprised a special British couple by performing one of their biggest hits in their virtual wedding ceremony.
The singer surprised engaged couple, National Health Service (NHS) nurse Hayley Pitman and partner Harvey Skelton, with a performance of her hit song Love Me Like You Do at their recent online wedding celebration.
“Congratulations Harvey and Hayley,” Ellie shared during the video. “You are both heroes and we all love you.”
Hayley and Harvey’s wedding was one of many canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the couple decided to have their nuptials via video chat with family and friends. They are still planning a wedding celebration, which will now take place in October.
The surprise for the couple was coordinated by the nonprofit For Better For Worse, which aims to raise $ 2,500 (£ 2,000) for NHS Charities Together, helping nurses like Hayley work on the front lines.
Ellie, who is currently in isolation with her husband Caspar Jopling, helped amid the Covid-19 pandemic by partnering with the homeless charity Crisis to provide 400 homeless people with cell phones for the help stay connected.
“We are all worried about the coronavirus, but homeless people are particularly at risk and at risk from the pandemic,” the 33-year-old said. “I have remained very concerned about the number of people who will still need support (and) I have been determined to help them stay connected.”
