Diamond Skies won the award for Best Wedding Band of the Year at an awards ceremony last month after beating stiff competition from across Scotland.

It was the band’s third time nominated in the category, but their first win.

Over 500 wedding professionals from across Scotland gathered for the event on Wednesday February 23 at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.

Drummer Craig Sim, who attended the ceremony on behalf of the band alongside Jessie Ann Flett, said: “We are absolutely thrilled.

“It was great to go there in person after so long, so winning too was just fantastic.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years.

“We were up against some great bands in our category, but winning shows show that a small band from Elgin, with a massive support network, can accomplish anything.”

Craig, Jessie, Callum Ord, Scott Ramsay and Daniel Pearson formed the band in 2015.

Before long, they had become a staple of the North East wedding scene, with their range of “floor fillers” proving particularly popular.

Craig added: “We’re going above and beyond what couples expect, which I think has helped us get this far.

“For example, during Covid, where we couldn’t play at weddings due to restrictions, we would record the first dance song for the couples so they could still have a first dance together.

“Couples over the years have said we were very easy to work with and we were great musicians with a wide range of familiar favorites to keep guests dancing the night away.”

The ceremony was the first to be held in person since the start of the pandemic.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Wedding Awards 2022 said: “The wedding industry plays a vital role in the country’s economy and enhances the local community by employing hundreds of people.

“The wedding industry has had a tough few years, but these finalists have succeeded through hard work and dedication. The awards are proud to showcase those who promote

excellence and turn any groom’s dream into reality.

“We would like to congratulate all of the finalists and winners on their achievements and hope they will continue their incredible work.”
