DENVER — Colorado bankruptcy filings fell 37.6% in January from the same period a year ago, continuing a downward trend seen throughout 2021.
Deposits also fell in Boulder, Larimer and Weld counties, with only Broomfield seeing just one more deposit than in January 2021.
That’s according to a BizWest analysis of US bankruptcy court data. The figures quoted include all new filings, including cases opened, closed and dismissed. Colorado recorded 317 bankruptcy filings in January, down from 508 in January 2021.
Among Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado counties:
- Boulder County had 14 bankruptcy filings in January, down from 23 in January 2021, down 39%.
- Broomfield recorded five bankruptcy filings in January, compared to four in January 2021.
- Larimer County filings totaled 15 in January, down from 20 a year ago, down 25%.
- Weld County bankruptcy filings totaled 30 in January, down from 38 recorded a year ago, down 21%.
